Biomass is currently the largest source of renewable energy in the United States . According to Adam Sherman of the Biomass Energy Resource Center (BERC), biomass may make sense for any farm application that has a high heat load (e.g., greenhouses, sugarhouses, or other large farm facilities).

Introduction to Biomass

As a premier provider of thermal renewable energy solutions, Excel Energy Solutions, LLC is expanding our thermal renewable energy offerings to include biomass thermal energy solutions for commercial applications.

Biomass energy is the use of biomass-organic matter growing above the earths crust -to produce energy.. Woodchips, wood pellets, and other low-grade wood wastes are the major type of biomass fuel. Other common biomass fuel sources are agricultural crop residues and farm animal wastes. Biomass energy is renewable, carbon-neutral, a domestic resource , and a substitute for fossil fuels.

Biomass thermal energy is the use of biomass fuel that is burned or converted into systems for space heating, air conditioning, industrial process heating, domestic water heating, and the thermal portion of combined heat and power.

Biomass is a local, finite natural resource that can be easily and efficiently utilized locally.  The utilization of biomass for thermal heating applications is one of the most efficient means to produce usable energy - thus displacing fossil fuels and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It is an important national strategy to be used responsibly and sustainably to achieve the maximum benefits for our country's future economic health.
